He's called clippy. No one knows why. The word “robot” is taken from Czech, where it is derived from “robota”, meaning “chore”, “servitude” or simply “work”. Certainly an aptonym for this robot, whose functionality does not extend to humour and sarcasm, for better or worse. No matter how tedious, no matter how repetitive, it will happily bleep bloop its way to the next task. The cuteness doesn’t serve any functional purpose, of course.
